Although the short walk to Avalanche Gorge is one of the easiest strolls in Glacier, it's one of my favorite spots in the park. I could spend hours there (and believe me I have) as the bright blue glacier water works it's way through smooth rock. Keep hiking up the trail another couple miles or so and you'll find yourself at Avalanche Lake.  Seeing as this is probably the easiest day hike in Glacier, with a modest 500 feet of elevation gain, be prepared for crowds. But don't get too relaxed as I've seen black bears no more than a 100 feet from this serene spot.
